AAA Soap for Hope Toiletry Donation Drive Kicks off November 1, Benefits 20 Charities

2015 Campaign Collected More Than 148,000 Toiletry Items For Local Charities

BELLEVUE, Wash. — AAA Washington is teaming up with 20 charities in Washington and northern Idaho provide an opportunity for those in need to have a fresh start to their day. AAA Washington is kicking off its ninth annual Soap for Hope donation drive today to collect unused travel-and full-size toiletry items for local shelters, food banks and other charitable organizations across Washington and northern Idaho.

“What’s so great about AAA’s Soap for Hope toiletry drive is that the items you donate stay in your community to help your neighbors in need,” said Jennifer Cook, AAA Washington spokesperson. “Most of us have left over toiletry items from a trip we took recently. Put those items to good use by helping someone in need.”

As a result of the generosity of members, the public, local businesses and community partners, AAA Washington has collected nearly 748,000 toiletry items for local charities the past eight years, and distributed more than 12,300 pounds of donations last year alone.

Want to be a part of supporting your local community? Scan your cabinets and gather items from your last trip, including unused and unopened hotel shampoos and soaps. Donations of new, full- and sample-size toiletry items such as conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes are accepted at all AAA stores in Washington and northern Idaho.

“Even the smallest luxuries make a world of difference to families who are struggling to meet their basic needs,” continued Cook. “Free toiletry items are one less thing that families have to spend precious resources on.”

Donations may be dropped off at any AAA Washington store. All donations stay in the community where they are donated. More than 20 charities in Washington and northern Idaho benefit from the donations.
