AAA School Safety Patrol Resources

Day-to-Day

The Operations Manual leads you through the necessary steps to form, organize, operate and support your AAA School Safety Patrol. It includes important safety concepts for students and downloadable forms.

Training

  • You and your patrol members can watch At Your Post together to familiarize yourselves with day-to-day patrol operations and patroller duties.
  • AAA offers advisors an online training experience. Head to the Training Videos page to watch and review these five modules any time you like.

Supplies & Materials

The Supplies & Materials page is likely where you will spend the most time. Visit it to set up your school’s business account so you can shop for and buy AAA-branded patrol supplies and materials through our online shopping cart; visit Alpine Products, to purchase state approved flags and vests.

Funding

The Supplies & Materials page also connects you to the Washington Traffic Safety Commission’s (WTSC) School Zone Crossing Guard Grants program. The state agency is currently accepting applications (until April 30, 2024) to help you pay for specific AAA School Safety Patrol expenses. Until the funds run out, every school with an existing patrol program can apply for a $300 grant each academic year. A one-time $500 grant is available for schools launching a brand-new squad. Just click that “Learn More” button in our School-Zone Safety Grants section.

Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day – November 14, 2024

Ruby Bridges took her walk into Louisiana’s first desegrated school. The steps she took in 1960 proved an iconic moment in the civil rights movement. The Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day started with a question from a group of AAA School Safety Patrollers from Martin Elementary in South San Francisco. Nearly 60 years later, as they were hearing Ruby’s story for the first time, and learning about her courage and bravery, they thought there should be a day to commemorate the movement she started. The Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day is an annual day of dialogue to commemorate her historic steps and continue the conversation to bring an end to racism and all forms of bullying.

To find out more Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day, and to register your school to participate in your own walk visit The Ruby Bridges Foundation website.

AAA Washington is donating Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day starter kits to 30 schools with posters, banners, books, and more. Contact SchoolSafetyPatrol@aaawa.com to request a kit for your school.
